Where We Operate
IXAR holds registered offices in Uganda and Tanzania, an office in Mozambique, and has completed projects in Uganda, Tanzania and Kenya. Crews, equipment and sealed sources mobilise to site from within Africa, not from overseas, so work elsewhere on the continent is a mobilisation rather than a mobilisation and an import licence.

Licences, Approvals and Compliance
Holding, storing and moving sealed radioactive sources is the highest barrier to entry in this market. IXAR is authorised, certified and audited to do it on the continent.
Radiation Safety Authorisation
Licensed to own, store, transport and operate sealed radioactive sources by the Uganda Atomic Energy Council and the Tanzania Atomic Energy Commission. Sources in use include Iridium-192, Selenium-75 and Cobalt-60, alongside X-ray crawlers and close proximity radiography systems.
Certified Personnel
Technicians qualified and certified to Level II and Level III under PCN and ISO 9712, and in accordance with ASNT SNT-TC-1A. Level III personnel carry 7 to 25 years of field experience, Level II personnel 5 to 10 years. BARC-qualified Radiation Safety Officers are assigned to all source handling work.
Quality Management
ISO 9001 certified since 2003, with ISO 14001 environmental and ISO 45001 occupational health and safety management systems alongside it. Written practices and procedures are aligned to ASTM, ASME, API, BS, DIN and NACE, or to a client specified standard where one is imposed.
Industry Standing
Member of the American Society for Non-Destructive Testing, the American Welding Society, ASTM, NACE, ISNT and NANSO. Regular member of the International Pipeline and Offshore Contractors Association.

Radiography Testing (Conventional — X-ray / Isotope)
Conventional radiography using X-ray generators and gamma isotope sources — Iridium-192, Selenium-75 and Cobalt-60 — with mobile radiography units and close proximity systems for work in live plant.

IXAR Africa operates as part of Industrial X-Ray and Allied Radiographers (I) Pvt. Ltd., founded in 1969 and today a leader in non-destructive testing in India and internationally.
